Comments & annotations
Feedback on a prop lives on its Feedback tab, below the Review card. There are two places to leave it: the Comments card for general discussion, and the Annotations card for feedback tied to a spot on the prop’s preview. Both use the same comment threads, so mentions, replies, reactions and attachments work the same way in each.
Comments
Section titled “Comments”Post a comment
Section titled “Post a comment”- Open the prop and select the Feedback tab.
- Type in Add a comment — use @ to mention a member.
- In About, choose Whole asset or Current version.
- Select Post comment, or press Ctrl+Enter.
A comment pinned to the current version shows a Current version chip. After a newer version is published, the chip reads Older version #<n>, so readers know the comment may be about something that has since changed. Comments can be up to 4,000 characters.
Reply, edit and delete
Section titled “Reply, edit and delete”Top-level comments have Reply. Threads are one level deep: replies can’t have replies of their own.
The author of a comment, or an admin, can Edit or Delete it. Edited comments show edited next to the time. Delete asks you to Confirm delete. Deleting a top-level comment also deletes its replies.
Resolve a thread
Section titled “Resolve a thread”Any member can Resolve a top-level comment once it’s been dealt with, and Reopen it later. A resolved thread shows Resolved by <name>. Resolving notifies the comment’s author. Replies follow their thread and can’t be resolved on their own.
Comment while offline (desktop)
Section titled “Comment while offline (desktop)”In the desktop app, comments you post while offline are queued on your machine and marked Queued offline. They post automatically when you reconnect. A comment that fails to post shows Could not post with the reason. Replies and comments with attachments need a connection.
Mentions
Section titled “Mentions”Type @ in any comment, reply, review request note or review response note to mention a member. A list of matching members opens: use the arrow keys and Enter or Tab to pick one, or keep typing. The mention is inserted as the person’s display name, for example @Sam Rivera.
Mentioned people get a notification. Some details:
- You can also type a member’s login name after
@. - If two members share a display name, typing that name doesn’t mention either of them. Use the autocomplete or a login name.
- Only active people can be mentioned. Text after
@that doesn’t match anyone stays plain text. - Editing a comment only notifies people you newly mention, never people who were already mentioned.
Reactions
Section titled “Reactions”Hover a comment and select Add reaction to react with one of twelve standard emoji: thumbs up, thumbs down, heart, smile, surprised, sad, party, rocket, eyes, fire, check mark and cross mark. Reactions appear as chips with a count; hover a chip to see who reacted, and select it to add or remove your own reaction. Custom emoji aren’t supported. Reactions don’t send notifications.
Attach screenshots and markup
Section titled “Attach screenshots and markup”Comments, replies, review requests and review responses can carry images. Every image goes through the markup editor first, so you can point at the problem before you send it.
To add one:
- Paste an image into the text box.
- Select Attach image to choose an image file.
- In the desktop app, select Capture and mark up to capture a screen or window.
The markup editor has Pen, Text, Rectangle, Ellipse, Arrow, Eraser and Crop tools, six colors, three stroke widths, Undo (Ctrl+Z), Redo (Ctrl+Y) and Clear markup. Select Attach markup to add the result to your message, or Cancel to discard it.
A message can carry up to 10 attachments. Attached images are saved as PNG and appear as thumbnails under the message; select one to view it full size.
Markup stays editable. Attachments made in the markup editor show a Has editable markup badge; on your own comments (or any comment, for admins), open the attachment and select Edit markup to change it. Attachments on review responses can’t be edited in place: respond again to replace them.
Annotations
Section titled “Annotations”The Annotations card lets you mark a region on a prop’s preview, or pin a point on its 3D model, and discuss it right there. The card has the preview on the left and a Discussions list on the right. Each annotation is numbered on the preview and in the list; selecting either highlights both.
Mark up a texture or image preview
Section titled “Mark up a texture or image preview”- On the Feedback tab, in the Annotations card, choose Rectangle, Ellipse or Freehand.
- Drag on the image to mark a region.
- In the composer that opens under Discussions, write your comment and select Comment. To keep the mark without starting a discussion, select Save only. Press Esc to discard.
Pin a point on a 3D model
Section titled “Pin a point on a 3D model”- In the Annotations card, select Place 3D pin. The button changes to Placing pin — click the model.
- Click a spot on the model’s surface. Dragging still orbits the camera.
- Write your comment and select Comment, or select Save only.
The pin stays attached to that point on the model as you orbit.
Discuss and manage annotations
Section titled “Discuss and manage annotations”An annotation’s discussion is an ordinary comment thread: replies, mentions, reactions, attachments and Resolve all work as described above. These threads show in the Annotations card rather than in the Comments list. A mark saved without a discussion can start one later from its entry in the Discussions list.
The author of an annotation, or an admin, can remove it (Remove markup or Delete).
Annotations and regenerated previews
Section titled “Annotations and regenerated previews”An annotation is drawn on one exact preview. When a prop’s preview is regenerated, for example after a new version, the new preview starts with no annotations, and older markup keeps showing against the preview it was drawn on. When a prop has annotations on more than one preview, use the preview menu to switch between Current preview and Earlier preview #<n>. New markup can only be added to the current preview.
Comments for agents
Section titled “Comments for agents”Agents use list_comments, add_comment (with object_id to pin to a version, parent_id to reply, and @name mentions in the body) and resolve_comment. Agents can’t add reactions, attachments or annotations through MCP tools. See the tool reference.
