Settings
Open Settings from the sidebar (under System) or from the menu under your name at the bottom of the sidebar. The page has four cards: Connection, Downloads, Semantic search and About. Settings apply to this computer only.
Connection
Section titled “Connection”| Setting | What it does |

| Server URL | The Prophouse server the app talks to. It is set to the hosted service when you install, and most people never change it. If you edit it, the new address is checked and saved when you leave the field, and the app reloads. |
| Background sign-in | Shows whether the local agent, which runs transfers, drop folders and enrichment, is signed in: Signed in or Not signed in. Click Sign in again (or Sign in with browser when it’s not signed in) to approve a fresh sign-in in your browser. See Sign in. |
| Paste a token manually | An advanced fallback: expand it, paste an API key into the field and click Store token to give the background services that key instead. For a hosted workspace, create keys in your dashboard at app.prophouse.dev/keys. See API keys. |
| Start Prophouse when I sign in to Windows | Starts the app automatically when you sign in to Windows. |
The background sign-in and any pasted key are stored in the Windows Credential Manager, not in a file.
Downloads
Section titled “Downloads”Save downloads to shows where the Download button saves files. The default is your Windows Downloads folder.
- Choose folder picks a different folder.
- Reset to default returns to the Windows Downloads folder. It appears only when you’ve chosen another folder.
Every download’s completion message offers Show in folder. This setting doesn’t affect Local Library downloads, which stay in the app’s local store. See Pull and download.
Semantic search
Section titled “Semantic search”Turns the optional local semantic search for the Local Library on and off, and shows its status and disk use. The buttons you see depend on the state:

| Never set up (Off — no data downloaded) | Set up semantic search… opens a dialog with the exact download size (about 468 MiB) and Download and enable. |
| On (Downloading models…, Indexing… or Ready) | Turn off keeps the models for later. Remove completely… turns it off and deletes the models and index. |
| Off with models still on disk | Turn back on re-enables it without downloading again. Remove downloaded data… deletes the models and index. |
Everything runs on this computer; nothing is uploaded. See Local Library for details.
Shows Prophouse desktop and the version you’re running.
- Check for updates asks for a new version right away. If there’s none, the card says You’re up to date with the time it checked. Prophouse also checks automatically.
- When an update is available, the card reads Version X is available. Click Download update, then Restart to update. What’s new shows the release notes.
