Notifications & watching

Your inbox collects the things that need you: review requests, responses to your requests, changes assigned to you, mentions, and comments on props you watch. You never get a notification for your own actions.

The inbox

Select Inbox in the sidebar. The sidebar badge shows how many notifications you haven’t read, and the page header shows the same count as <n> unread.

Unread notifications are highlighted. Each row names who did what and when, for example “Sam Rivera requested your review”. Selecting a row marks it read and takes you to the right place:

Review notifications open the round’s review workspace.
Comment notifications open the prop’s Feedback tab and scroll to the thread.

Use the tabs to narrow the list:

All: everything.
Reviews: rounds that asked for your review.
Change requests: changes assigned to you.

Mark all read marks everything currently in your inbox as read. Notifications that arrive after you loaded the page stay unread. Use Load older notifications at the bottom to page back.

What sends a notification

If one action reaches you in several ways, for example a comment that mentions you on a prop you also watch, you get a single notification with the most specific reason (here, the mention).

These don’t send notifications: reactions, check-outs and releases, new versions, restores, markup saved without a comment, and cancelled review rounds. Editing a comment notifies only people newly mentioned in the edit.

Watch a prop

Watching a prop sends you a notification for every new comment on it, including replies and annotation discussions. Review notifications don’t depend on watching: they go to the people involved in the round.

You watch a prop automatically when you:

created it (you’re its original publisher),
comment on it,
request a review on it, are added as a reviewer, or respond to a review on it.

To change it, use the bell button in the prop’s header, next to the lock button:

When you’re not watching, the bell is labeled Watch. Select it to start watching.
When you’re watching, it’s labeled Watching. Select it to mute the prop.

Muting sticks: commenting on the prop or joining a review later won’t start watching it again. Select the bell again whenever you want to resume.

Agents use watch_prop with state set to watching, muted, or clear (which removes your choice and goes back to the default, where creators watch their own props).

Desktop notifications

The desktop app shows new inbox items as they arrive. When the app window is focused, they appear as in-app toasts; when it isn’t, they appear as native system notifications. Items already in your inbox when you open the app aren’t repeated.

Notifications for agents

get_notifications returns the inbox, newest first, with the unread count (unread_only narrows it). mark_notifications_read marks specific ids read, or everything with all: true; add before_id to leave newer items unread. See the tool reference.
