Reviews
A review records whether a specific version of a prop is ready. You ask one or more teammates to review the current version, each of them approves or requests changes, and the prop’s review badge follows their responses. Because a review belongs to one version, the badge always describes the version people will actually pull.
Review states
Section titled “Review states”| State | Badge | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
draft |
none (shown as Draft on the Review card) | Nobody has asked for a review of this version. Every new version starts here. |
in_review |
In review | A review has been requested and is waiting on responses. |
changes_requested |
Changes requested | At least one reviewer asked for changes. |
approved |
Approved | The version was approved. |
The badge shows on library cards, on the prop page, in the review queue and in Unreal. Draft shows no badge so untouched props stay uncluttered.
When a new version becomes current (a push or check-in), the badge goes back to Draft. When you restore an earlier version, the badge shows that version’s review state again, so restoring an approved version shows Approved.
Review rounds
Section titled “Review rounds”A review request is called a round. A round names 1 to 20 reviewers, who respond independently. The prop’s review state is derived from their responses:
- As soon as the round opens, the state is In review.
- If any reviewer requests changes, the state is Changes requested.
- When every reviewer has approved, the state is Approved and the round is Completed.
Reviewers can change their response while the round is open. A request for changes doesn’t close the round: if that reviewer later approves, and everyone else has too, the round completes.
A round has one of four statuses:
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Open | Waiting on responses. A version can have only one open round. |
| Completed | Every reviewer approved. |
| Cancelled | The requester or an admin cancelled it. |
| Superseded | A newer round on the prop, or a direct decision, replaced it. |
Request a review
Section titled “Request a review”- Open the prop and select the Feedback tab.
- In the Review card, select Request review.
- Tick the reviewers. Use Filter members… to find people.
- Optionally add a note. You can @mention people who aren’t reviewers, and attach screenshots or markup (see Comments & annotations).
- Select Send request.
Reviewers must be active members; API keys and service accounts can’t be reviewers. Each reviewer gets a notification, and you and the reviewers start watching the prop.
A round always reviews the version that was current when you opened it. If someone pushes a newer version while the round is open, the round stays attached to the older version, and the review workspace says A newer version exists.
To review the new version, open a new round on it. Request review is available whenever no round is open on the current version, even while a round is still open on an older one. In that case the Review card notes: A review round is still open on an older version. Requesting a review of the current version closes it as superseded. The request dialog repeats that the older round will close as superseded, and its responses stay in the history. The review workspace of the older round links to the prop with request a new review.
When the current version already has an open round, the button is hidden. Respond in that round’s review workspace, or ask its requester or an admin to decide directly.
Respond to a review
Section titled “Respond to a review”Rounds waiting on you appear in Reviews under Waiting on you, and in your inbox.
- Open the round. The review workspace shows Waiting on you at the top.
- In Your response, optionally write a note (with @mentions) and attach screenshots or markup.
- If you’re requesting changes, choose who should make them in Assign to. It defaults to the requester.
- Select Approve or Request changes.
Responding again while the round is open replaces your previous response, including its note and attachments. Only reviewers listed on the round can respond. Anyone else sees Only assigned reviewers can respond.
The requester is notified of every response. The person assigned to make changes is notified that changes were assigned to them.
The review workspace
Section titled “The review workspace”Each round has its own page, reached from the review queue, a notification, or Open review workspace on the prop’s Review card. It shows:
- The round’s status and the prop’s review badge in the header, with Open asset and, for the requester or an admin, Cancel round.
- The asset and a Version under review card with the version number and a link to its version history.
- The Request card: who asked, when, the note and any attachments.
- Responses (n/m): each reviewer with Pending, Approved or Changes requested, their note, attachments, and who changes were assigned to.
- Your response, if you’re a reviewer on an open round.
Manage reviewers
Section titled “Manage reviewers”While a round is open, the requester or an admin can change who reviews it. Use Add reviewer to add a member, or Remove next to a reviewer. A round always keeps at least one reviewer. Removing someone recalculates the state: removing the only reviewer who requested changes can move the round back to In review, or complete it if everyone left has approved.
Cancel a round
Section titled “Cancel a round”Cancel round closes an open round. If nobody had responded yet, the prop goes back to Draft. If anyone had responded, the state stays where their responses left it.
Override a round
Section titled “Override a round”The requester or an admin can decide a round directly with Override this round, then Approve (override) or Request changes (override). This closes the round as superseded, and reviewers who haven’t responded aren’t asked again.
Set a review state directly
Section titled “Set a review state directly”For solo work or quick sign-off, you can set the state without a round. On the Feedback tab, open Set review status in the Review card, choose a State, optionally an Assignee and a note, and select Save review. Choosing Draft clears the review.
An assignee acts as the owner of the review: while one is set, only that person or an admin can change the state or reassign it. Without an assignee, any member can set the state, so a solo user can approve their own work. Members can assign themselves; admins can assign anyone.
When a round is open, the Review card shows Override the open request instead (for the requester or an admin), which supersedes the round.
The review queue
Section titled “The review queue”Reviews in the sidebar lists rounds across the whole library. Its badge counts rounds waiting on you.
- Waiting on you: open rounds where your response is still pending.
- Requested by you: rounds you opened, in any status.
- All reviews: every round.
On the last two views, filter by round status with the status menu. Each row shows the asset, the round status, one dot per reviewer colored by their response with a responded/total count, who requested it, and when. Rows reviewing a version that is no longer current are marked older version.
Review state in search
Section titled “Review state in search”In the Cloud Library, the filter panel has a Review section with Draft, In review, Changes requested and Approved, each with a count. The filter matches the review state of each prop’s current version. Agents pass the same values as the review argument to search_props.
Review state in Unreal
Section titled “Review state in Unreal”Review workflows happen in the web and desktop apps; the Unreal plugin shows the results:
- Catalog browser tiles show In review, Changes requested or Approved for the prop’s current version.
- When the catalog browser or the push window notices that a prop’s state changed to approved or changes requested during your editor session, a notification appears, such as “<asset>: approved”, with Open in Prophouse to jump to the prop in the desktop app.
- The Push to Prophouse… window lists the review state of props you’re about to push a new version of.
Review tools for agents
Section titled “Review tools for agents”Agents have the full workflow: list_reviews (start with view: waiting_on_me), get_review, request_review, respond_to_review, update_review_request, cancel_review_request and set_review_state. Reviewers and assignees can be named by member name. See the tool reference.
